The cool, humid winter air in northern Vietnam creates a magical feeling. Blue smoke emitting out of kitchen chimneys, the toiling of black-toothed, white-haired old women selling along the roadside. The roads are narrow, made with the same red bricks lain during the French colonial era. Homes made of beehive-style brick are still preserved after decades of war and weather. Yet the landscape in Vietnam changes quickly. I paint these scenes knowing we may not see them tomorrow.
